A folder system for accounting, bookkeeping and tax practices: practice administration, a knowledge library, and a standard folder for every client year from engagement to filing, with a client-copy automation and stages from documents received to filed.
- 34 folders
- 1 standard document
- 1 automation
- 5 project stages
Click a folder to open it. Names use example values; you enter your own when you set it up.
What it fixes
Client documents arrive in a mess
Each client year has set places for bank statements, payroll, invoices and prior returns, so nothing is missed at year end.
Not knowing which clients are waiting on what
Stages show which clients are engaged, have sent documents, are prepared, reviewed or filed.
Sending the final copy
The Client Copy automation copies the final signed returns into a Client Copy folder, ready to send.

Questions
Is this a replacement for our accounting or tax software?
No. It organizes the documents around that software: engagement letters, client documents, workpapers, review notes and final returns.
Where do the folders get created?
Wherever you choose: a SharePoint library, OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, a network drive or office server, or a folder on one computer. FolderCopilot Desktop finds these for you and creates the folders there; your sync service shares them with your team as usual.
Will it overwrite anything we already have?
No. You see every folder and file before anything is created, existing files are never changed, and setting up a kit again only adds what's missing. You can undo a setup.
Are our files uploaded to FolderCopilot?
No. The folders are created on your computer or in your synced drive by the desktop app. Your documents are not uploaded to FolderCopilot to set up a kit.
Can we change the kit or make our own?
Yes. Once set up they're ordinary folders you can change. You can also turn any folder structure into your own kit with "Save a folder as a kit" and set it up again anywhere.
