Architecture & Engineering Firm

A studio folder system with CAD standards and a project structure from brief to closeout.

  • 1 standard document
  • 1 automation
  • 7 project stages
Shared Documents
New projects go in Projects/Active.

Click a folder to open it. Names use example values; you enter your own when you set it up.

What it fixes

Issued sets get overwritten

The Issue Drawing Set automation copies the current sheets into a named folder under 08 Issued Sets, so every issue is kept exactly as it was sent.

Superseded drawings get used on site

Superseded sheets move to their own folder instead of being overwritten, so the current set is always clear.

Standards live in someone's head

CAD standards, title blocks, a details library and a drawing numbering standard sit in one company folder everyone can find.

What's included

  • Company folders (25). Deploy once into the shared drive or SharePoint library your studio uses.
  • Design Project template (29 folders). One folder per project, from brief and concept through construction documents to closeout.
  • Standard documents: Drawing numbering standard.
  • Issue Drawing Set automation. Copies the current drawing sheets into a folder named for the issue under 08 Issued Sets, so every issue is kept exactly as it was sent.

Questions

Does it work with our CAD software?

Yes. The kit only creates folders and a few text documents; your drawing files stay in whatever format you use.

Where do the folders get created?

Wherever you choose: a SharePoint library, OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, a network drive or office server, or a folder on one computer. FolderCopilot Desktop finds these for you and creates the folders there; your sync service shares them with your team as usual.

Will it overwrite anything we already have?

No. You see every folder and file before anything is created, existing files are never changed, and setting up a kit again only adds what's missing. You can undo a setup.

Are our files uploaded to FolderCopilot?

No. The folders are created on your computer or in your synced drive by the desktop app. Your documents are not uploaded to FolderCopilot to set up a kit.

Can we change the kit or make our own?

Yes. Once set up they're ordinary folders you can change. You can also turn any folder structure into your own kit with "Save a folder as a kit" and set it up again anywhere.
